TIMBER
The timber utilized is generally pinus Radiata, a slow-growing species from the Knysna plantations. Well known for its density, structural strength and durability.
MANUFACTURE
All logs manufactured in accordance with SABS 457/1982.
TREATMENT
Log wall components are pressure treated in vacuum cylinders with TBTOand Waxol, against decay and insect attack. Similarly all structural members, i.e. floor structure, internal walls, roof trusses ect are treated with CCA,to SABS code 1288/1980.
WEATHERPROOFING
Approved for water penetration and fire test to SABS code 082.
MAINTENANCE
Requirements for log homes are minimal and consist of periodic applications of reputable timber outdoor sealer when necessary.

WHAT TYPE OF FOUNDATIONS ARE USED? A reinforced concrete raft foundation is the most inexpensive but a pine timber base on pine columns is the more popular, especially for slops ect. Built on raised poles which in effect creates roof over future building below at no additional cost and with absolutely no disturbance to inhabitants during additions |
